Well-pruned Parisians collected for the 2019 French Beard Championships in the French capital.
Marking the third year that a follically blessed celebration took place in the European town, the championship saw everyone from the boldly bearded to the shamelessly mustachioed competitor being named the best of the beards.
According to organizers, it is “an activity that has become a must for any bearded and/or moustached person who respects himself.”
Fifteen categories and 86 competitors took part this year. Looks ranged from the creative to the more classic, well-groomed beard, which integrated props such a baseballs.
One of the rivals was Benjamin Vlamynck, who informed France 3 about his preparations for the pre-championship.
“In order to nourish the hair, I applied a castor oil therapy,” he said, “then you have to brush. It’s essential to cut but not too much.” Naturally, there was a barber on hand to ensure that everyone entered the contest looking their best.
